I'm starting to lean on God again now that my Dad is very ill, will God listen to me?

I'm been lazy, selfish and fallen out of worship and praying. Well, now with my Dad very very ill, I have begun to pray. Will God listen to me? I don't want my Dad to die because of my laziness.I'm starting to lean on God again now that my Dad is very ill, will God listen to me?
XYZ,

I'm sorry for the situation you are in right now. It appears to be natural to blame ourselves in times like these.

Pray, and believe that God wants your Dad healed. Jesus healed all who came to him. He raised the dead at every funeral. You don't have to wonder what God's will is. He wants you and your family healthy.

With that said, people still die. As far as I know, since the resurrection of Jesus, everyone has died, or will die if Jesus does not return to earth in their lifetime.

Why? I don't know. I only know that Jesus asked us to pray that God's will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Which tells me that his will is not being done now. God does not want sickness, death, and destruction. He wants us to pray for life, health, and order.

Have your Dad take the medicine or see the surgeon as our agnostic friends suggest. We plant, water and harvest or we would not eat. And doctors, with the knowledge and skills they have learned by the grace of God can work miracles...they do it all the time!

I'll be praying for you and your Dad.I'm starting to lean on God again now that my Dad is very ill, will God listen to me?
There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—

And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

There are no other options.
Praying wont determine the length of your dad's life. God doesn't exist. Your best option would be to use up all of your energy spending time with your dad and letting him know how much you love him. The rest is irrelevant. I hope you find the solace and deep inner strength to get through this. You don't need a fictitious man in the sky to be strong. I'm sorry for what you're going through. Keep your head up.
Yes, God has always been waiting there for you to come back. there is a saying that what man uses for evil, God uses for good. in this case He's using your dad's sickness to draw you closer to Him. If your father passes, it's not because of your laziness, it was just God's will for Him to go, but you can pray for God to heal him if it's God's will. I'll say a little prayer for the healing your dad's body and the healing of your soul. =)
';If God seems far away - who moved'; - clearly HE remains constant and sure. HE loves us even when we fail to call on Him. HE is there and HE hears all prayers.

And most important - the life, illness or death of your father DOES NOT depend on the degree, number or intents of your prayers. That's putting WAY TOO much responsibility on you and it is not the place to put that at ALL.
Your lazyness has nothing to do with your dad dying!

You want to know why he is, why don't you ask his doctor?

I can guarentee that he won't say because you were lazy.

Or yours, for that matter?

How is this God's fault?
First of all, to put your mind at ease, we dont get sick and die from our actions regarding worship.

God commanded Adam: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” (Genesis 2:16, 17) So eternal life for Adam and Eve was conditional; it depended upon their obedience to God.

4 Tragically, however, Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s law. (Genesis 3:1-6) In doing so, they became sinners, for “sin is lawlessness.” (1 John 3:4) As a result, Adam and Eve no longer had the prospect of eternal life. Why? Because “the wages sin pays is death.” (Romans 6:23) Thus, when pronouncing sentence upon Adam and Eve, God said: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” Our first parents were then expelled from their Paradise home. On the day that they sinned, Adam and Eve began the slow but steady process of dying.—Genesis 3:19, 23, 24.

“Death Spread to All Men”

5 Adam and Eve now had sin deeply etched in their genes. Hence, they could not produce perfect offspring, any more than an imperfect mold can produce a perfect object. (Job 14:4) Indeed, every human birth confirms that our first parents lost perfect health and eternal life for themselves and their progeny. The Christian apostle Paul wrote: “Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.”—Romans 5:12; compare Psalm 51:5.

6 Today scientists do not know just why humans grow old and die. The Bible, however, explains that we die because we are born sinful, having inherited this condition from our first human parents.

Next, YES God will listen to you if you pray with good intentions. God IS love and very forgiving if we are truly repentent and sorry. Here is some good info. Read this info along with your bible to get the full answer to your question. If you dont have one handy there is an easy to read modern english (no thee's or thous's) version at www.watchtower.org you can refer to:

How Can I Pray and Be Heard by God?

WHY THE QUESTION ARISES:

People in practically all religions pray. Yet, many feel that their prayers are not answered.

WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES:

Jesus taught us to avoid repeating set formulas in our prayers. “When praying,” he said, “do not say the same things over and over again.” (Matthew 6:7) If we want God to listen to our prayers, we must pray in the way that he approves. To do that, we need to learn what God’s will is and then pray accordingly. First John 5:14 explains: “No matter what it is that we ask according to [God’s] will, he hears us.”

See also Psalm 65:2; John 14:6, 14; and 1 John 3:22.
You dad may or may not die but you may ALWAYS rely on God for comfort. However, rest assured your dad will not die because of your laziness.

Jesus is the most amazing Comforter

I'm sorry that you have this situation with your Dad. You do need to lean on Jesus.

Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much!

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus alone for salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what!

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or ';leave'; salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: ';Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!'; You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die! :D
Of course! God loves you and you father. God will answer your prayers, but remember your father's fate is the Lord's choice.
he will listen... but why do you only call on him when something bad happens you should lean on him always in any situation !
that is not god's fault but it helps to pray. Has your dad seen a doctor lately? If not go get him checked or if your doctor doesn't tell you anything go see a different one
If he dies, it's not because you didn't pray enough.

I hope he will make a full recovery.

.
god does not exist... put your faith in the medicine he's taking/.
let this be your lesson to never take things that matter for granted...
