If your Mother was ill, would it be worth $100,000 to keep her alive for one more year?

In other words, without the $100,000 she would die within a week or two.If your Mother was ill, would it be worth $100,000 to keep her alive for one more year?
Absolutely ,Having lost my mother 5 yrs. ago having 1 more yr. with her would be pricelessIf your Mother was ill, would it be worth $100,000 to keep her alive for one more year?
In generalities, it would first depend if the person new who their mother was. In this day and age that could be questionable. In specifics, would you be able to secure $100,000 in one week? Presidents, Congressmen etc; do not have to worry about that because they have a wonderfulheath plan we are not privy to. So will you speak with your congressmen as to whether, you going into debt, will help or hurt the economy. Will the person be in the position of having the government tell them whether their mother is worth it? Does the person want to save his mother? These are questions you must deliniate prior to you receiving a valid answer. Then you must ask what political party the person belongs to. If it's Communism, as is being pushed into affect in the U.S. then you have the answer.
My first response is no.

I would not want my child to spend $100,000 to keep me alive for another year.

He still has a life to live and that 100,000 could be put to better use for him. It's only one year.Maybe if it was for another 10 years.

Also no,I wouldn't do it for my mom either.

I'm not coldblooded.I have a huge heart. I'm just logical, got it from my dad.

The $200,000 guy,that's different.That was to keep him alive-period.Not just a year.
I think keeping people alive is the moral and ethically correct choice in reasonable situations. Perhaps one addendum to your question should be .....is there anything that could be done to reduce the cost so that its not $#100,000? I know in some cases the answer may be no...and in some cases the answer will be yes. Lets concentrate as well on reducing the cost of health care delivery....not just insurance.
She would probably be the first to say no but your heart will invariably say yes- of course.

100,000 these days in health care cost is almost an average expected bill to pay for a hospital stay especially when it involved cardiac care or intensive care. It can bankrupt a family

If you were unaware of that, you have a lot to learn about health care cost.
People do whatever it takes to take care of there loved ones. A 100,000 in 1 year is nothing. My father was in the hospital for 3 weeks. His bill was over $200,000 dollars. His insurance paid 100% because it was over $100,000. He probably would not have had a chance with the health care plan they are proposing today.
It depends on who is paying for the treatment. If it is your $100,000 then by all means do it. If you are asking if Medicare, meaning the taxpayers, should pay keep your mom alive then I would say no.
That would depend on her quality of life for that year.

A year in ICU, semiconscious and in pain? no.

A year with us - of course.
If that's what she wanted , yes it be worth it. Would you kill your sick mother for $100,000. even if you would end up spending that money in one year?
at this point no...I love her but her quality of life is such that she can't do anything for herself and rarely remembers who she is...it's almost too sad to bear
Yes. Absolutely.
As a medical professional I can say I agree 100% with the first answer; that all depends on quality of life. It has nothing to do with the amount of money.
No, what does one year matter, she has led a long life she is 75.
Absolutely.
