Scientology wants to eradicate psychiatry. What will happen to the mentally ill they refuse to acknowledge?

Tom Cruise wants to ';smash'; psychiatry. Scientology will not accept mentally ill people into their organization.

So what will happen to all the raving lunatics who are kept on this side of sanity by extended psychiatric treatment?Scientology wants to eradicate psychiatry. What will happen to the mentally ill they refuse to acknowledge?
Scientology is a form of psychology that says 'no' to psychiatric medication. It maintains the mind can be changed without medication - just pay for lots of Dianetics courses and all will be sorted! Yes. Well..... The words 'assylum' and 'lunatics' come to mind.Scientology wants to eradicate psychiatry. What will happen to the mentally ill they refuse to acknowledge?
In other words: Mind control techniques, practiced by amateurs.

They will be forced to pay money for 'readings' and Scientology will make allot more money.

It all makes sense if you think it through.

The reason Scientology is against modern Psychiatry is because it is a direct competitor to Scientology's source of income.

Psychiatrists make money for selling pills, Scientology makes money for selling information and providing 'secrets'.
I hope you will carefully read what I wrote. It may change how you view things about people with mental illness.

You know, you try to sound like you actually care about people suffering from mental illness, but then you call all of us ';raving lunatics.';

Thanks a lot! I have bipolar disorder and am SEVERELY disabled by it, and I am not a raving lunatic EVER. Most people I know with very severe mental illness are never raving lunatics either.

Obviously, you fear us people with serious mental illness. I'm a fat 43 year old married woman with 4 cats and I sew dolly clothes for little girls for the one little contribution I can make for society. Oh, I donate my O negative blood, too. Please fear me!

I hope your comments were made out of lack of knowledge, and not to be mean spirited. Half the burden of living with bipolar disorder is the disorder itself, and half is how the general public perceives people like me (the stigma). Most people with mental illness will say the same - they have trouble recovering even with meds because they must hide in shame, and they did nothing wrong. They inherited their illness (there is a strong genetic component to many mental illnesses). Also, even tho the newspapers do it too, calling us 'the mentally ill' is offensive. We are people with mental illness. Trust me, there is a difference, especially when 1/3 of the public wants to shove us back in institutions.

I also dislike the Scientology ';religion.'; They do a disservice. They are a cult.
Do you want a real answer or is this a rant?

They would go to doctors and psychologists.

But I think you over-worded it abit. They dont want to eradicate psychiatry. Just practices like lobotomy, electro-shock, and major medicating when such things are not considered by even the psychiatrists to actually be a cure of the problem.

The image of a psychiatrist talking to someone about their past is actually right in line with the way Scientology thinks such things should be handled.
Actually, they often accept people with mental conditions and then convince them to stop taking all their medicine.... which has resulted in quite a lot of pain for quite a lot of people.

Disgusting.
I guess they'll burn in hell with all the rest of us who don't join the Scientologist ';church';?

I don't know if they believe in hell or not... I cant stomach being around them long enough to research their beliefs...
Scientology is a cult dedicated to making money any way that they can.

Even they don't have the power to eradicate psychiatry. There are far too many people in this country who have been helped or had family members helped by responsible doctors.

SOME Christians say mentally ill people are demon possessed, but they are also in the minority.

The ONLY reason Scientology gets the publicity it does is because Americans are OBSESSED with celebrities. Scientology knows this %26amp; uses idiots like Tom Cruise to appeal to other idiots.
Aren't Christians also saying that mentally ill are possessed by demons or something? How come nobody is freaking out about that?
Well, if you use Lisa McPhearson as an example the out come doesn't seem very promising.

If Scientology won't accept the mentally ill, then who the heck are all those Scientologists? I always assumed their problem with psychiatry was that it was helping people who otherwise would be inclined to turn to Scientology.
Have you seen the unfunny truth? Scary.
if they dont accept mentally ill people, why in the hell is tom cruise a member??? is it just me or is he obviously a raving lunatic?????!!!!!!!!
L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology, wrote that he wanted to take over the mental health field. The Church of Scientology doesn't currently accept insane people, but once psychiatry is demolished (a Hubbard fantasy) then they will set up mental health centers. Likely, they'll just put the insane in a ';quiet place'; with a great big rock to keep one company and with which to contemplate ones toes or the voices in one's head.

If you have no money to pay to the Church of Scientology, you'll never get anywhere with them.

Hubbard preached that ';the psychs'; (meaning psychiatry and psychology and its related fields) were evil and should be destroyed. In the present, the psychs are competitors to Scientology, and so are to be feared and fought.

It's more complicated than a simple hatred of psychiatry. By pointing out to its members (the Scientologists) that evil is ';over there'; while purporting to have all the answers to mental ills itself, it keeps the members from noticing that the Church of Scientology itself is practicing mental manipulation on its own members without their knowledge or consent and to their detriment.

Almost everyone who has been in the Church of Scientology and subsequently left, has discovered for themselves the degree to which they were ';brainwashed'; while in the organization. There are thousands of personal testimonials all over the Internet (including mine) testifying to that horrible discovery that when one was ';in'; they saw their world through rose-colored glasses, and once ';out'; they saw the horror of their life back in Scientology. Upon this discovery, one feels shame that they were once part of Scientology.
Hopefully he wont succeed.. it would be a disaster..
I think it's very naive on their part, personally. I understand that some medications do more harm than good, but there are cases in which mediaction is very much needed. I think it is dangerous to assume that no one needs medication at all. People seem to forget that the mind can be ill and fragile just like any other part of the body. I think it's extremely sad that he would take such a one-sided view on these things. I was very deeply angered by his interview, the one in which he claims that ';psychiatry is a pseudo science';, and he also said that there are no chemical imbalances. It bothers me because it's so easy to say things like this if you have never been through it. Has he ever had hallucinations, or deep depression. I think Tom should come back and share his opinion if he goes through it himself. Then we'll see if vitamins are enough help. It just saddens me so much :(.
