Kim Jong Il might be seriously ill. What will happen to North Korea if he dies? Does he have a successor?

Kim Jong Il has not been seen recently and did not show up for his country's 60th anniversary.

What would happen to North Korea if he died soon? Would things change? Who would take his place?Kim Jong Il might be seriously ill. What will happen to North Korea if he dies? Does he have a successor?
In dictatorships, leaders are basically hand-picked on the basis of when it's their turn, sort of like the leaders in the democrat party.Kim Jong Il might be seriously ill. What will happen to North Korea if he dies? Does he have a successor?
it is likely his son kim jong-nam will take over and china have publically declared they will favour him taking power. Although his son is not in his fathers favour kim jong II would probably be forced to name him successor to keep chinese aid coming into north korea. After kim jong II dies nothing in north korea will change because the military would step in to keep control.
NK is under dynastic rule. Kim J I has a couple o sons by 2 wives. It's just one big happy family over there with their 'juche' (self reliance ideology sill being forced down the throats of the people). But neither son has been groomed to take over the reins of cult power status from Dad. That leaves the military whose top brass control all contracts for everything. My guess is some iron fist evil sob general will take over and attempt to continue the great lie that is life in NK
There may be a change if a new leader is prepared to deal with the west. However China would have to take a leading role, as the only country in the world to have diplomatic links with Norht Korea. China may gain some international kudos for this so i guess there is potential there.
Hmm, if they do not have an extradition agreement with the United States, it might be a great place for little georgie bush to go. He could be his successor the timing would work out.
There is also a Japanese expert on North Korea that theorizes that Kim may have died in 2003, and North Korea has been using body double since. Pretty far fetched, but interesting.
He has his desciples. Do not celebrate.

Change in North Korea will not happen for generations. Unfortunately.

I am trying to write him a letter so he will say hello to Hitler and Stalin for me.
They might fall into famine and darkness if he were to die... oh, wait..
awww tooo bad for him...we must have not sent his bottles of Remmy Martin to help in his failing health.
