Yes you will be okay...if I were in your shoes I'd have a couple packs finished before the night is through. Good luck and the anesthesiologist will make sure you are breathing correctly through your surgery. I hope things turn out awesome for you.

As long as your doctor didn't recommend or order you to abstain, you will be ok!
well that was stupid, you don't recover as well if you smoke. Especially for something as important as spinal surgery. However, I highly doubt that anything beyond a very long recovery time will come of it.
