i am 16 and he is 18My bf had a stroke yesterday will he ever get better or will be ill for life?
All depends on the severity of the stroke and what part of the brain was affected. Some people make a complete recovery and some people don't. Have a chat with his Doctor.
Obviously at his age a stroke is uncommon so he must have some underlying problem and he will be given medication, probably to take forever. He will also spend quite a bit of time with the Rehabilitation Team. They really are great. Go along with him, the Nurses etc will explain everything to you too.
Here is the link for the stroke association. They are very helpful:-

First fo all im really sorry to hear about your BFmmust have been a nasty fright. But let me reassure you.Strokes even SEVERE ones form my experience, are so sooo treatable and any damage done gets better over time. There is so much help available for strokes that DO work.Speech therapy, physiotherapy, aids if he needs them physically, meds to prevent anymore occuring...Regular checkups and blood pressure lowering pills..He WILL NOT be ill for life, recovery can take awhile, anywhere from a few weeks to months but all that he will need to do is keep an eye on his weight blood pressure cholestrol and diet from now on.And really thats what we all should be doing anyway so it would be an advantage almost.
Hope this helps.Try not to worry, the treatments are great nowadays and medical monitoring will keep everything in check.
Bless you x
depends on his recovery and extent of damage, i have seen some people who you wud never know had had a stroke and others whose consequences hav been much worse, he is very young to have a stroke tho, youngest ive seen is late 30s. but he is young so chances are good with hard work in physio
Not sure. Depends if his body recovers.
There was a Garage singer, called Tubby T, who had a stroke. Unfortunately he died a few years later.
Speak to his doctor.
I'd guess it is too early to say especially without knowing where and how extensive the damage to his brain is.
