That's ridiculous.


Unfortunately debt collectors are hired for ONE reason only--and that is to get the money owed.

no they don't care infact they might report you to the police but anyways check out dept collectors harassment laws there are a bunch and if they violate the and you have records if and when they take you to court you could win or even have a law suit against them I know that if you answer say hello and they reply and you say stop calling or just hang up they cannot call back for a week if they do so it's harassment they are only aloud to call 2-3 times a day not before or after a certain time just go to yahoo search and type in debt collector laws
Cant you go to citizens advice,i think they offer debt advice and help you sort your debts.It sounds like you are panicing over the debts and wont be suicidial otherwise.
if you are in england its time to stop worrying, unless the debt collectors are acting on behalf of a local authority/council or tv licensing. Only they will pursue a debt in county court and send in bailiffs eventually (who can still be called off easily if you phone them).


other people you owe might go to county court but the judgement is not enforcable except at much more cost so once at county court if you fail to be scared into paying they will just send you letters, put them straight in the bin.


Any other debt forget it,dont pay it theres nothing they can do.


I have took some debts to the limit where they hand the debt to a collection agency and when they fail they send it to another ...and another then county court still they got nothing off me. they try to scare you into paying but if you havent got it you havent got it no matter what they do so do not worry any more.


you will have a bad credit rating but who cares.


the main thing is do not stress over it do not let any bailiff or representative in your home,check who they are first.
It's only money....it's not worth taking your life for anything..especially owing money, as said in the last reply, debt collectors have certain guide lines they must stick to.





Have you thought of an IVA or bankruptcy? that will clear the lot off giving you a chance to get your life back together..talk to the CAB.

Debt collectors have to be pretty hardened to do the job they do effectively, there are some able bodied con artists out there and they are probably not trained to sort out the genuine from the ones playing the system.


Google your local Citizen's Advice Bureau





The second link gives advice on debt. I have no experience of it but it gets the all clear from my internet security (WOT, Netcraft and McAfee)





Don't just give up, there are thousands of people in the same boat.
