You're bipolar and you can't work? There is medicine for bipolar disorder, and you're a perfect example as to why the system needs to be reformed. SSI or ';crazy checks'; are abused and you're an example. Sure you love your life, you have a treatable ';illness';, you don't work, get a check at the first of the month, free healthcare, food assistance, and rent assistance. Who wouldn't want that. However, that's why the system needs to be reformed!Do you think they will ever stop giving social security disability to the mentally ill? i have bipolar -?
No, it won't. As long as it's necessary to offset discrimination agianst people with disabilities (a very long time, I'm afraid) it will continue.
You won't see cuts--not until the sorry a** bigots that keep people with disabilities from getting jobs and other opportunities are pushed far enough to the side so we can get our foot in the door. Then most of us won't NEED SSDI or SSI. The ones who still do will still get it.
Meantime, as long as society continues to treat us as second-class citizens, they can damn well foot the bil.
Social Security Disability comes from the SS fund. It will run out if it isn't fixed, and that's just true.
Have you checked into the many Americans who are successfully employed with BPD?
I have three friends who are bipolar and all three of them take their medication and work.
Then vote Obama.
